Happy Father's Day!
Today is father’s day and I have to take the time to showcase my father, David. He is probably the best dad in the world (a close second being my husband who is an amazing father to our daughter). So I write this letter to him…
Dear Dad,
Happy Father’s Day! Growing up, I could not have asked for a better father than you. No matter how busy you were, you always made time for Kristie and me. You were there for everything. From playing the narrator in the school play to scoring 7 goals in one soccer game, to walking across the stage at my college graduation, there isn’t a memory from my childhood that doesn’t have you in it.
As I grew up, you gave me the room I needed to spread my wings, all the while standing just close enough to not let me fall to far. You let me make mistakes yet never judged me or made me feel guilty for the decisions I made and when life got too hard to handle you were always there waiting.
You taught me how to be strong and independent. That you have to work hard in life to get where you want to be and that nothing will be handed to you. You taught me patience and humility and gave me the knowledge that all no matter how hard things get, there is always light at the end of the tunnel.
You taught me what a husband and father should be. You taught me to look for the right partner in all aspects and to never settle. Your marriage to mum is the bible in which Steven and I strive for in our marriage. We look to both of you as inspiration and know that you will always be there.
You showed me what it was to be compassionate. No matter the struggles and hardships in your life, you never bat an eye to help others in need. No matter how big or small the task, you are always there to lend a helping hand.
But mostly, you taught me how to love and how to raise my daughter. Because, it is our family values that you instilled in all of us that I live my life by every day. I love you more than anything and I want to say thank you. You made me who I am today.
Love Always,
Katie
