The Pinterest Pledge

As probably most of you are, I am obsessed with Pinterest. I have my go-to websites everyday: Facebook, Blogspot, US Weekly, CNN (just to look grown-up LOL) and of course Pinterest. I joined Pinterest at the urging of a coworker. It was the up and coming social media site a few years ago and as soon as I joined I fell in love.

It really is great. I used it to plan my whole wedding (or at least get inspiration). I can find every and any beauty and make-up look I have ever desired. I can even find recipes and awesome workouts to do. Who wouldn't love it? Here's my complaint with Pinterest and it's really not so much of a complaint as it is a ...I ALWAYS END UP FEELING INADEQUATE!

This card seems to sum it up perfectly. Everything I pin (for the most part) is my "dream life. What I would do if there were more hours in the day; more money in the bank; more energy to exercise. But the truth of the matter is there isn't.

I fill my board with beautiful pictures such as these ones below.

I spend countless hours scouring Pinterest looking and pinning at all these things that other people have and at the end I end up feeling inadequate. When I start really diving in deep and really exploring how I feel, Pinterest makes me sad.

The truth is that am never going to be able to make the dinner above (Steven might but not me LOL!). I am never going to have this amazing closet that I am obsessed with. I am never going to look like Megan Fox and my house will never be this clean and organized.

So I am going to take this pledge and I challenge you all to do the same. I pledge to continue to be obsessed with Pinterest. To scour and pin as many things as possible and come up with as many ideas as possible. However, I pledge to no longer feel like I am supposed to have the perfect life, perfect house, perfect family, perfect body etc. I am amazing just the way I am...messy house and all.

I feel like by doing this we are letting go of all the unrealistic expectations we put on ourselves and just learn to be happy with who we are. After all, if we are being honest with ourselves has anything we have tried to copy from Pinterest turned out as great as the picture you pinned? I can tell you mine all turn out fair at best LOL.

What do you all think? Is Pinterest creating unrealistic expectations for your life?

Love Always,
Katie
